Written by Brooke Humphrey

Getting to AI preferences

To access AI Preferences in the EMC:

  1. Log in to the EMC and navigate to the top menu bar.

  2. Click Admin.

  3. From the dropdown, select AI Preferences.

💡 Note: The Admin menu also includes Customer Macros, Provider Macros, Word Replacements, and Seat Management. Make sure to select AI Preferences specifically.

Configuring your AI preferences:

Once inside AI Preferences, you'll find two settings to configure: Format and Style.

Format

Controls how each section of your AI encounter note is structured. Choose the layout that best fits your documentation style: numbered list, dash list, or paragraph.

Style

Sets the tone, voice, and level of detail in the AI's output. Adjust to match your clinical communication preferences and note verbosity.

Additional options:

Within AI Preferences, you can also configure the following:

Specialty

Select your medical specialty so the AI tailors its output to your clinical context.

General attestation

Add a general attestation statement that will automatically populate at the end of each note.

Discrete diagnosis

Enable discrete diagnosis capture to support structured data entry within your notes.

Multilingual support

Enable multilingual support if you conduct encounters in languages other than English.

How to update your AI preferences

  1. Go to the AI Preferences section in the menu bar.

  2. Navigate to the section you'd like to update.

  3. A dropdown will appear with the available options for Format and/or Style for each section of the note.

  4. Select the option that best fits your preference.

  5. Click Save to apply your changes.

💡 Not sure which option to choose? Click the ⓘ info button next to any option to see a short description and an example of what your notes would look like with that setting applied.
