  1. Open the iScribe app and begin your AI recording

  2. On the AI Recording screen, you can trigger a macro in two ways:

    1. Tap the Macros button to select from your available list.

    2. Or verbalize the spoken form of the macro during your dictation.

  3. Speak clearly when using the keyword "Insert" followed by the macro name to trigger the correct text.

    For Example:

    • Spoken Form: “Insert knee injection”

    • Macro Text: Under sterile technique, while utilizing a Betadine skin preparation with ethyl chloride spray, 40 mg of triamcinolone with 1 cc of ropivacaine [without | with] epinephrine was injected into the patient’s [right | left] knee without difficulty. The patient tolerated the procedure well without complications.

    • Dictation: “Insert knee injection, with epinephrine, right knee.”
→ iScribe AI will recognize the macro and insert the appropriate text into your summary with the correct variables.

  4. As you dictate, you’ll see a visual confirmation on screen when a macro is successfully recognized. This confirms the macro has been captured and will appear in your AI Summary.

    1. If no visual notification appears, the system may not have understood the spoken form, or it may not have matched any macro in your list.

  5. If you’re unsure of the exact spoken form or need to review your options, tap “Macros” to view your full list. You can tap any listed macro to insert it directly.

  6. To return to the recording screen, tap Return at the bottom of the Macros list or tap Done in the top left corner.

  7. Continue dictating as normal—any macros used will be included in your AI Summary.

Note: Macros can be used in the following sections: History of Present Illness, Review of Systems, Physical Examination, Imaging, Procedure, Assessment, and Plan.
